Abigail Parada had been learning how to read for two months when she opened her Bible and read 1 Chronicles 7:14. After struggling through the verse, she started to cry. Lifting her hands, she cried, “Thank you God, because this is the first time I’ve ever read your Word.” She has since been promoted to the 2nd level of the reading circle.
“It is a privilege to be able to help people and to lead people out of ignorance. From the moment a person starts to learn to read they begin to not be ignorant any more. They can read the newspaper, the Bible, the road signs. So it fills me with satisfaction to see that I am helping people to rise out of the level of ignorance that they’re in. That is the satisfaction that I have, that I’m able to serve in some way.”—Lidia León
